Warren Bielke
Interim CEO
Warren Bielke was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer on November 9th, 2009. Mr. Bielke has extensive experience with medical device companies as a co-founder, CEO, sales and marketing executive and director. Mr. Bielke served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Bio-Surfaces, Inc., an orthopedic implant company. Mr. Bielke was a co-founder and President and Chief Executive Officer of InStent, Inc., a medical device manufacturer that went public in 1995 and was acquired by Medtronic, Inc., in 1996, subsequent to which Mr. Bielke served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Medtronic InStent. From 1980 to April 1990, Mr. Bielke held positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing at Pentax Precision Instrument Corporation, a medical instrument company, serving as Executive Vice President and a member of its Board of Directors from October 1989 to April 1990. Mr. Bielke served as Nationals Sales and Product Marketing at Xomed Medical from 1976 to 1980 and served as Regional Sales Manager at Baxter Travenol Health Care from 1970 to 1976. Mr. Bielke currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors at the following companies: Vision-Sciences, Inc., Advanced Bio-Surfaces, Inc., and Vertebral Technologies, Inc. Mr. Bielke has a B.A. in Business Management from Moorhead State University.
Katherine Wolf
CFO/Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Katherine Wolf joined Vision-Sciences, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Corporate Development in September 2008. Before joining VSI, from 2005-2008, Ms. Wolf was a Managing Director at HSBC Securities in its investment banking division, where she was a founding member of the firm’s Health Care Group and ran the investment banking MedTech effort. Prior to HSBC, she was a Managing Director in the Health Care Group at Bear Stearns & Co., and before that, at SG Cowen and Furman Selz. Ms. Wolf holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Williams College.
Gideon Hirschmann
Vice President, Operations and R&D
Gideon Hirschmann has served as Vice President of Operations since March 2008. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Hirschmann was a Managing Director of Palmer Consultants LLC, a business development advisory firm, where he consulted companies in the areas of cost reduction, marketing, long term goal setting, and plan implementation. Prior to that, between 1986 and 2005, Mr. Hirschmann was a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Nation Standard Mortgage Corp., a banking services company. From 1975 through 1980, Mr. Hirschmann served in the Israeli Army as a combat officer, where he held several commanding positions.
Mark S. Landman
Vice President, General Manager, Natick Operations
Mark S. Landman currently serves as Vice President, General Manager Natick Operations. Mr. Landman joined the Company in January 1991 and has served in a variety of leadership roles in product development, project management, manufacturing engineering and material control.
Mark Schnoerr
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Mark Schnoerr joined Vision-Sciences as Vice President, Sales and Marketing in November 2009. Prior to joining VSI, Mr. Schnoerr was with Olympus/Gyrus/ACMI as Director, Product and Procedure Development and Marketing Manager for Urological Endoscopy Devices. With over 25 years of experience in the medical device industry, Mr. Schnoerr has served in a number of positions prior to VSI, including Director of Sales and Marketing at Heart to Heart Diagnostics, Sales Manager and Product Specialist at Applied Medical Resources, District Manager at Baxter Healthcare, and Western Regional Manager at Pfizer Hospital Products, Deknatel Division.
Jitu Patel
Vice President, Machida
Jitu Patel joined Vision-Sciences (then known as Machida) in 1975. From 1975 to 1980, Mr. Patel worked in various medical and industrial capacities and was responsible for setting up new departments necessary to keep pace with the Company’s growth. From 1980 to 1985, Mr. Patel worked in sales in both the medical and industrial areas, and since 1985 Mr. Patel has managed Vision-Sciences’ Machida industrial division, currently as its Vice President.
