EndoSheath® Endoscopy

Always Ready. Always Sterile.

EndoSheath® Endoscopy represents the new alternative to conventional flexible endoscopy procedures. Imagine a flexible endoscope that never comes in contact with the patient, that offers a disposable operative channel in place of the conventional difficult-to-clean channels, that reduces the risk of cross-infection, and limits the ability of human factors to influence endoscopy-associated outbreaks. This is all provided by the EndoSheath® Technology, the only sterile, disposable option for flexible endoscopy.

For Infection Control personnel, the EndoSheath® Technology can streamline the following procedures:

  • Flexible Bronchoscopy
  • Flexible Cystoscopy
  • Flexible Transnasal Esophagoscopy
  • Flexible Laryngoscopy

EndoSheath® Endoscopy allows the healthcare professional to make safety a priority in today’s endoscopy practices WITHOUT sacrificing efficiency and WITHOUT requiring expensive, elaborate cleaning equipment and endoscope inventory.

What is EndoSheath® Technology?

Vision Sciences® unique endoscopy line utilizes the pioneering EndoSheath® Technology, providing a durable, protective barrier between the scope and patient. EndoSheath®Technology is a sterile, disposable sheath that covers the endoscope and completely isolates it from patient contact. For some models, the sheath incorporates a sterile, disposable channel for suction, irrigation, and tool passage, supporting a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. For some models an integrated protective control body cover allows maximum usage of endoscope controls without contaminating the equipment.

How does EndoSheath® Technology work?

Prior to the procedure, the endoscope is placed inside a new, sterile sheath. Following the procedure, the endoscope is removed from the sheath, which is then discarded. The endoscope then goes through a simplified wipe down routine, which includes intermediate-level disinfection. Thus the EndoSheath® Technology eliminates the need for toxic high-level disinfection/sterilization routines between each patient. The result is a safe, sterile instrument for each patient and rapid equipment turnaround for the practice.

EndoSheath® Technology is unique, patented technology. It should not be confused with ultra-sound probe covers or other types of covers. EndoSheath® Technology is a branded infection control concept relying first on durability and the ability to provide an efficacious barrier that will isolate the flexible endoscope during an entire procedure. EndoSheath® Endoscopy represents a new methodology for handling today’s growing need for safe, efficient endoscopy.

What EndoSheath® Endoscopy means for the Infection Control personnel

EndoSheath® Endoscopy provides a practice with safe, efficient, and high-performance endoscopy. Because each instrument utilizes STERILE EndoSheath® Technology, every patient is ensured a contaminant-free insertion tube. Because of the unique EndoSheath® feature of rapid equipment turnaround, practitioners do not have to worry about whether instruments have spent the appropriate amount of time immersed in toxic chemicals and whether or not a conventional endoscope channel has been completely scrubbed clean. EndoSheath® Endoscopes are always ready with always sterile technology.

An EndoSheath® Practice has the opportunity for an enhanced level of safety, efficiency, and flexibility. The EndoSheath® Technology means less staff and equipment exposure to toxic disinfection chemicals or the elaborate, difficult to monitor reprocessing routines. The simple preparation routine of the system limits the amount of technical training and oversight normally spent on the conventional endoscope reprocessing routines, increasing productivity WITHOUT reducing safety levels. Additionally, an “always ready” endoscope means that unexpected patient add-ons are easily fit into a busy day’s schedule regardless of where the endoscope is in the reprocessing routine.

EndoSheath® Technology helps keep capital equipment budgets low, by providing one flexible endoscope that can do the work of many conventional scopes, reducing the need for turnaround inventory. The reduced inventory and the reduced exposure to toxic chemical disinfection routines also allows for lower service and repair expenses.
